The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino delivers a simple approach and a pretty core of red fruit. What the wine lacks in mouthfeel and textural consistency, it makes up for with aromatic intensity. As the nose opens, it becomes alive with wild berry, red rose petal, press violet and grilled herb. Ultimately, this wine offers a lot of very beautiful Sangiovese pureness, but it doesn’t have the depth of an important vintage. Polished tannins and bright acidity characterize the finish.
